MORE THAN A MARKET
Our community
A farmer’s market is by definition a communal act, and it brings together many different people over a common love for real food. Whether you’re a farmer, a woofer, a cook, a regular or a bypassing park-goer, your attendance is an invaluable contribution to the market experience.
We are so thankful to have been able to build such a strong and lively community. It’s ever growing and diversifying.
We would like to further strengthen and build it by hosting fun and educational activities and events for all to attend.
We encourage all market-goers to involve themselves deeper in the soil, and try to learn from growers, producers, cooks and each other by taking part in the progressive small-scale and responsably sustainable farming community.
On this page, you can read about all the different initiatives the Grønt Marked do, aside from the weekly Sunday markets.

Farm Visits
We organize trips to several of the different farms that the are part of the Grønt Marked.
We’ll walk around the fields, tour the farm, eat some lunch, all the while you’ll have any curious questions answered by the kind farmers themselves.
It’s a very educational experience for any city-person – but it’s also so interesting to see how all individual farms and farmers have different principles, methods, sizes and shapes.
Workshops
Kombucha-brewers, winemakers, beer-brewers, cider-brewers, mead-brewers, fruitwine-makers, yoghurt-makers, jam-makers, chutney-makers, cheesemakers and many more…
There’s a lot to learn, and a lot to teach.
We are fortunate to work with so many skilled producers, who are happy to pass on the knowledge and culture of their crafts.
Together with the producers, we host several different types of workshops.
Dinners for biodiversity
In collaboration with Lille Bakery we host dinners focused on one single danish vegetable/plant/ingredient at a time.
We start the dinner off with an enlightening talk-presentation from a grower / farmer / expert about the specific crop.
And then we all sit down around long tables, and cherish and chat about this ingredient together.
Its history, its cultural importance, its origin, its taste, our connection to it. It’s a wonderful experience.
The dinners are non-profit and costs are covered for around 250-300 DKK pr person. 😉
Harvest Festival
In 2022 we began the tradition of a Harvest Festival – a glorious celebration of the growing season being at its most fruitful, and now heading towards the winter.
As per usual, all the producers arrive early in the morning and setup the stalls as if a normal Sunday. In addition to the farmer’s market, there’s a diverse array of speakers, panel-talks and live music on stage.
There are also food tents with local chefs and bakers cooking special, fresh, festive warm dishes made with ingredients from the market, and of course a bar with beverages.
Then we have the Workshop Tent where you can learn valuable food skills from the producers.
In 2022 we had a kombucha, goat cheese and a garum workshop, and people could bring their own apples to press their own apple juice!
Of course, there are also workshops and fun activities for kids and families, e.g. seed bombs, bird flutes and bonfire pancakes.
So so many people turned out and supported the festival. We loved it, and we hope you all did too. We can’t wait to see what the next Harvest Festival will look like.
World Farmers Market Coalition (WFMC)
Since summer 2021 the Grønt Marked has been an active member of the World Farmers Markets Coalition, which we have officially co-founded in Rome in June 2022.
Learn more about the World FMC here:
https://worldfarmersmarketscoalition.org
By connecting and engaging with farmers markets associations around the world we aim to share knowledge and build strong networks that will ultimately positively impact our project. The coalition is a platform for us to share our experience, learn from “seniors” farmers markets associations and most importantly get inspiration from the amazing people and projects that around the world, from Kenya, to Bangladesh, Australia, Peru and Norway, works with our same goals and hopes for a better and more fair food system.
Market Kitchen
From this year we will be cooking and serving delicious dishes at the markets with ingredients that we will get on the early Sunday morning from our farmers and producers.
The Market Kitchen is a baby project within Grønt Marked, a space to highlight seasonality and the joy of cooking. Stop by our tent to taste some nice bites and get inspired on how to turn a beautiful courgette into a delicious meal!
The Market Kitchen will continue to evolve over the next months so stay tuned for more tasty updates!
